Prince William County Retiree Health Insurance Credit Plan
The Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved a retiree insurance credit program effective July 1, 2004. There is no cost to the retirees for this program. Under this plan, retirees are eligible to receive a monthly reimbursement from the County for some of their health insurance premiums paid. Bolton has been contracted by Prince William County to serve as the third-party administrator of the Prince William County Retiree Health Insurance Credit Plan.
As a retired employee of Prince William County, Virginia, (County) you are eligible for this benefit plan depending on your current health and dental insurance premiums, if any. You may be entitled to receive a maximum monthly reimbursement of $165.00 if you retired prior July 1st, 2024, and $195.00 if you retired on or after July 1st, 2024.
Each year, Bolton mails a form to retirees who do not have Prince William County retiree medical insurance to confirm eligibility for a monthly credit. This verification is required by the IRS because the credit is tax-free. If the form is not returned, the credit may be suspended. If that happens, the retiree must contact Bolton using the phone number or email listed below and provide the required premium documentation to restart the credit. Please note that once the credit is reinstated, retroactive credits can only be paid for up to one year. Credits are payable only to eligible retirees and end upon the retiree’s death.
